Best Transport Options for Tourists
설레이는 마음을 안고 공항에 도착해서 캐리어를 들고 이제 어디로 가야할지 막막한 외국인친구!
일단 짐을 맡기기 위해 숙소로 가고싶어하는 사람이 많을거야.
그리고 숙소는 대부분 시내쪽에 잡았으리라 생각해.
(사실 서울은 교통이 진짜 잘되어있어서 역근처 호텔이라면 꼭 시내가 아니여도 좀 저렴한 숙소로도 괜찮아.이건 다음에 다시 다뤄볼께)
오랜 비행시간에 피곤하지만 일단 짐을 숙소에 넣고나서 생각하자고.
인천공항에서 서울 시내로 편하게 이동할 수 있는 방법에 대해 알려줄께.
With an excited heart, you finally arrive at the airport, dragging your suitcase behind you—only to feel a bit lost, unsure of where to go next. That’s how many of my foreign friends feel!
Most travelers probably want to head straight to their accommodation to drop off their luggage first.
I’m guessing many of you booked a place in the city center.
(Actually, Seoul has such an amazing transportation system that even if your hotel isn't right downtown, as long as it's near a subway station, you'll be just fine—and probably save some money too. I’ll talk more about that next time!)
Even though you’re tired from the long flight, let’s at least get your luggage to the hotel first.
So today, I’ll show you the easiest ways to get from Incheon Airport to downtown Seoul.
1.공항철도
숙소가 어디인지에 따라 다르겠지만 직통열차와 일반열차가 있어.
직통열차는 서울역까지 논스톱으로 이동할 수 있는데 .
좌석지정제고 짐칸이 넉넉하다는게 장점이야.
소요시간은 대략 43분정도고 요금은 9500원 정도로 약 $7.00로 서울역까지 가능해.
하지만 목적지가 서울역이 아니거나 이동하기 힘들다면 일반열차로도 어디든 가능한데.
대신 역마다 정차하고,따로 짐칸이 없어서 캐리어로 이동시 조금 불편할 순 있어.
대신 요금이 저렴해서 출퇴근시간을 제외한다면 일반 열차로 이동하는것도 좋은 방법이야.
- Airport Railroad (AREX)
Depending on where your accommodation is, you have two train options: the Express Train and the All-Stop Train.
The Express Train takes you non-stop from Incheon Airport to Seoul Station. It’s a reserved-seating train with plenty of space for your luggage—definitely a plus after a long flight. The ride takes about 43 minutes and costs around ₩9,500, which is roughly $7.00.
But if your final destination isn't Seoul Station or you find it hard to transfer from there, the All-Stop Train might be a better choice. It stops at every station along the way, and there's no designated luggage area, which can be a bit inconvenient if you have large suitcases.
However, the fare is cheaper, and if you're not traveling during rush hour, the All-Stop Train is actually a pretty smart option too.
2.공항 리무진 버스
난 대부분 리무진 버스를 이용하는편인데 공항에서 밖으로 나오면 리무진 버스 탑승할수 있는곳이 쭉 있어.
강남,홍대,명동,종로 등 인기 지역으로 직행도 가능하고 인기지역이 아닌 왠만한 서울 시내는 대부분 이동할 수 있어.
캐리어는 기사분이 친절하게 짐칸으로 넣어주시고 좌석이 넓고 편해서 버스로 이동해도 좋아.
요금은 지하철보단 비싼데 일반리무진은 10000원 ~ 15000원 (약 $7 ~ $11)
프리미엄 리무진은 16000원 ~ 18000 (약 $12 ~ $13) 이야.
소요시간은 보통 60분 ~ 90분 정도인데 이건 도착지마다 다르니 참고해줘.
탑승하기전 리무진 예약서비스 기기에서 탑승권을 끊어서 알려주는 번호의 정류장으로 가서 탑승하면되고
캐리어는 기사님께 목적지를 말하고 드리면 내릴때 친절하게 내 짐까지 모두 꺼내주셔.
아이와 함께 이동한다면 제일 편하게 이동할 수 있는 수단이라고 생각해.
- Airport Limousine Bus
Personally, I usually go with the limousine bus. Once you step outside the airport, you’ll see rows of stops where you can board them.
These buses go directly to popular areas like Gangnam, Hongdae, Myeongdong, and Jongno, and even if you're not heading to a major tourist area, most places in Seoul are covered.
The best part? The driver kindly takes care of your luggage and places it in the storage compartment. The seats are wide and comfortable, making it a relaxing ride even by bus.
The fare is a bit higher than the subway:
- Standard Limousine: ₩10,000–₩15,000 (about $7–$11)
- Premium Limousine: ₩16,000–₩18,000 (about $12–$13)
Travel time usually ranges from 60 to 90 minutes, depending on your destination.
Before boarding, you can use one of the limousine ticket machines to get a ticket, which will show you the bus stop number. Just head there and wait for your bus.
When boarding, tell the driver your destination and hand over your suitcase—they’ll make sure it’s taken out for you when you arrive.
If you're traveling with a child or want a smoother, more relaxing trip to your hotel, this is one of the most comfortable options.
3.택시
공항 택시 승차장에서 바로 탑승하면 되는데
일반 택시 외에 대형 택시도 있으니 짐이 많거나 인원수가 많다면 대형택시를 이용하는게 좋아.
지하철이나 버스보다 요금이 비싼편인데 여러명인 경우 오히려 택시가 나을 수 도 있으니
상황에 맞게 선택하면 될거같아.
일반택시 기준 약 70000원 ~ 90000원 정도 (약 $50 ~ $65) 심야시간 (밤 10시 이후 ) 에는 추가 할증이 붙어.
고속도로를 지나야 한다면 톨게이트 비용도 별도로 발생하니 참고해줘.
- Taxi
You can catch a taxi directly from the designated taxi stands at the airport.
In addition to regular taxis, there are large taxis (van taxis) available—which are perfect if you're traveling with a group or have a lot of luggage.
Taxis are definitely more expensive than trains or buses, but if you're not traveling alone, it might actually be a better deal when splitting the cost.
For a regular taxi, the fare typically ranges from ₩70,000 to ₩90,000 (about $50 to $65).
Keep in mind that there's a late-night surcharge after 10 PM, and if your route includes highways, toll fees will be added on top of the fare.
So, depending on your situation—number of people, amount of luggage, and arrival time—a taxi might be the most convenient option.
4.공항 픽업 서비스 (사전 예약 차량 )
도착전 미리 업체에 픽업 서비스를 예약한다면 입국장 바로 앞에서 기사님이 대기했다가 편하게 이동할 수도 있어.
이건 한국사람은 이용하지 않는 서비스 이지만 예전에 부모님 모시고 여행갔을땐 픽업 서비스를 이용해 본적이 있어.
단체 이동일때도 편하고 짐들고 왔다갔다 이동하지 않아도 되서 편리한 점이 아주 많지만 비용이 적진않아.
외국어 지원 기사님도 선택할수 있고 캐리어가 많거나 어린이 노약자가 있다면 비용을 좀 더 주고 이용하기에 괜찮은 서비스라고 생각해.
보통 100000원 내외 (약 $70) 로 가격대가 있긴 하지만 편리한 이동을 선택하고 싶다면 나쁘지 않아.
너무 애매한 새벽에 도착하거나 4명이상의 단체 또는 가족단위라면 제일 좋은 서비스야.
- Airport Pickup Service (Pre-Booked Car Service)
If you book an airport pickup service in advance, a driver will be waiting for you right outside the arrivals gate—ready to take you straight to your destination with zero hassle.
While it’s not a service most Koreans use, I’ve personally tried it when traveling with my parents, and it was super convenient.
It's especially great for groups, families, or when you have a lot of luggage. No need to drag your bags around or worry about transfers. Some services even offer English-speaking drivers, which is a nice bonus.
The cost is definitely higher—usually around ₩100,000 (about $70), but for smooth, stress-free transportation, it might be worth it.
If you're arriving at an awkward time (like super early in the morning), or you're a group of four or more, or traveling with kids or elderly family members, this might actually be the best option for comfort and convenience.
서울은 크지도 작지도 않은 도시지만 교통이 참 편리하고 친절하게 되어있어.
공항에 도착해서 처음 한국의 이미지가 나쁘지 않았으면 하는 마음에 자세히 적어봤는데 도움이 됐으려나??
혼자 여행을 오는거면 이동에 큰 불편함이 없겠지만 어린 아이들이나 부모님이 같이 오신다면 오랜 비행시간에 지쳐서 이동하기에 짜증나거나 힘들수 있자나? 그럴땐 리무진 버스나 대형택시같은 서비스를 이용하는게 현명하다 생각해.
